H1 Visa Change of status from F1 to H1 Visa

Is it possible to complete MPH on a F1 visa and then switch over to H1 for a residency after completing the MPH course?
Will I need to come back to my own country for the H1 processing or can i apply while in US?
How much time does it usually take to complete the H1 visa process, right since application to getting the visa?
Thanks!

Yes. you can do that.

You don't need to return to your country.

H1B processing takes about 2 months.

please take a look at this link . . . http://forums.immigration.com/thread...-and-Residency
there seems to be some law against granting H1 visa to people who have completed MPH on a F1 visa.
