Passport Not currently employed, will visa be a problem

hi

I am an IMG graduated 2009, did step1, CK (waiting for results), i want to apply for visa have all documents ready
sponsorship from US citizen, Invitation letter from a good University for observership, been to US previously twice returned back on time
but my only negative issue is that i am not currently employed in my home country (where from i am applying for visa), as i was preparing for my steps so i wasn't able to work.
is it a must to be employed as many of my friends who got visa the question they were asked was employment letter.

Do I have a chance to get visa without employment letter

Any advice, will really appreciate it

Who was supporting you financially while you are unemployed?

If your parents or other family members were supporting you then you can take their bank statements to the visa officer as a proof of financial support.

You don't need sponsorship from US citizen and you don't need invitation, you should apply for tourist B1/B2 visa and make Step 2 CS exam as your reason why you want to go to US.

So is it better to tell them i am just going for the CS but not for observership.
I already have invitation from a reputed University in US for observership, confused, should I omit about observership

The CS exam is a better justification as you will be paying $1,200+ for it and it's difficult for them to deny you access for it as it's only available in US.

Observership is a weak pretext.

You can use both by the way; tell them you want to go there for CS exam and the observership.

Based on my own experience and US visa rejection, PLEASE get an employment letter before you step into that US embassy. It can be a point of rejection for you as well. To be on the safe side, pls do so! Good luck!
