Passport Visa Processing for the Step 2 CS Exam!

Hi all:
Once we register CS exam, it means we can book the plane tickets and take the exam or first we have to go to the embassy for the application of visa and once we get the visa then we can register for CS??

If it is like the latter, how long usually does it take for the application usually? I checked the embassy website and it says if we apply on the third country, it takes longer time? But how long?

Thank you!

-------------------------------------------------
after i posted it, i checked one post, so now what should i do? Should i register CS and pay CS first and then go to embassy to apply for visa? Because then it is easier to get a visa. And once rejected, the ECFMG can totally refund the fee if the issue is about visa, right? But how do they know i want refund because of my visa rejection?

Well..What I know is that..You have to get your CS date first and then ECFMG sends you a visa letter. Now, apply for your US visa. You will take your visa letter along with you to the interview. That's what I did.My interview is on the 18th. Yikes!

I don't know anything about this as I'm a GC holder but I can tell you that sometimes it takes a while before they even give you an appointment at the embassy. To be sure and rather be safe than sorry I would just give the ECFMG a call to double check what the usual procedure is and the timeframes. Different countries, different waiting times and you don't want to risk the $$$ you paid for this test! Just a thought.
