Unhappy B1/B2 visa in administrative processing for the past 12 months.. Should I give up ?

Hi guys,

I am final yr. med student from India. I gave the interview for B1/B2 visa in New Delhi back in Jan, 2012 on the basis of a clerkship acceptance. My case was put for administrative processing. I have a very common muslim name. It has been 12 months since and I have no clue whether I will be granted the visa or not. I have taken my step 1 exam and have 4 electives scheduled from March, 2013 to June, 2013.

Should I give up my dream of training in the US and start preparing for the local exams or should I keep waiting and cancel my electives one by one ?

Thanks in advance !!!

Help Same visa problem for elective

I was accepted to do a 6 weeks elective in Internal Medicine in Temple University.
Went for the B1 visa interview, had everything planned and ready. Answered all VO questions and presented all documents. VO then told me: your visa is accepted but needs further administrative processing and was given a pink/red slip.
It is still under processing for the past 9 months, and unfortunately the elective was cancelled.
Please answer my following questions:
Do you think my visa will ever be issued?
Do you think this will affect my future plans for scoring a residency and going to the states?
Do you think I will be issued pink slips for future visits to the states?
