J1 Visa J1 Research and J1 clinical

Hi guys how are you doing? I hope you are all right. I write this post because im confused about some stuff.

I got accepted into research at the Mayo Clinic Minnesota; and they offered me a J1 research scholar visa, however I have been reading that once you finish your research and all that, you have to wait up to a year in order to apply and receive another J1 visa.
After reading the law I see that they have the 12 month bar rule in order to receive the SAME J1 category (that is research again after you finish) but I dont see anything related to the fact to receive another J1 category... So here I ask for your advise... I really need to know this because if I accept the position and finish and all that and then get an opportunity or apply to residency next year I wouldnt be able to start because of the wait! and I wouldnt want to wait ANOTHER year just because of some stupid rule....
