Default port of entry

Hi, i have a sponsor for observership at a hospital however the background check is taking some time so haven't received a formal letter of acceptance yet.

can i show email conversation with sponsor and coordinator as a proof at port of entry as i would not have a formal acceptance letter by then.

anyone with experience of port of entry ?

also i recently read somewhere that they can have send some back to home country because they consider observership as work which is not allowed on B1/B2.

so do you tell about observership at port of entry?

Any input from someone with experience will be great. thanks.
if ur ready to learn......world is ready to teach...take d leap!!

Ideally I would wait to receive the letter of acceptance before leaving.
I wouldn't recommend showing them email conversations. Here are some things I would try -
- Are you planning on taking the CS during this visit? If you are, just show them the letter sent to you by ECFMG
- You could say you're visiting a relative and plan on attending a marriage or something.. (This would be the last option I would use)

So, basically your best bet is waiting for the paperwork to arrive.

Finally, observerships are allowed on B1/B2. Whoever told you otherwise probably didn't handle the situation well themselves. What you have to stress on while answering them (if it gets to that) is that you won't be actively involved in patient management.

Here is something you could use as a last resort - http://medicine.yale.edu/globalhealt...nformation.pdf
Now be mindful that this document is valid for electives. However, as observerships aren't official programs, the onus would be on you to explain to them that they are akin to electives.
