You should contact the usa immigration. Tell them you have a B1/B2 visa but would like to come to USA to do some externships. You will need a new visa, something like a H2.

Don't try and trick the immigation because that could send you right back to India with no chance of coming back to the USA.

I used my B1/B2 Visa for my CS and externships and there's no problem with that at all.

Of course you tell them that you are coming here of tourism, family visit, pleasure, ...etc never tell them about your exam.

Actually, I don't know about not telling them about externships - because I am a Canadian student and we get B1 visa's for clerkships if we want to do them in the US as well. So I think your B1 is actually valid for the purpose you intend to use it for. As long as you don't make any money in the US or stay beyond the limits of your visa you should be okay. I'd call and double check...

Exactly - you shouldn't - if you call them and tell them you're going to be doing externships (volunteering, essentially) I'm sure they will be okay with it. I don't even think you need to do this before you come - as long as you declare it to the border agent (at the airport) you should be fine...

They wont' refuse you, but just in case, I'd check with the local embassy of the place you got the visa from - that would be the easiest way... I'm sure you won't be turned back though since you have a valid visa for entering. I do know for sure that we do our clinicals on B1 visas so thats why I'm not worried about you....

Same thing I think - it's one day, so you can just tell them you're coming over on vacation and to do an exam one day. It's not work or intent to stay at this point so you should be fine

The B1/B2 Visa is used by people around the world to visit USA for a variety of purposes. That include attending a conference, a business meeting, a family visit, a friend visit, or just tourism.
Your CS exam can definitely fit into it. You can tell the Airport Officer that you are coming to take the CS exam and show him/her your scheduling permit. Absolutely no problem.
