Smile B1/B2 visa approval chances for electives

Hi everyone! I am an intern in India. I got acceptance for 3 months electives. My sister is studying in US on student visa, and her GC file is under process.

Now, as my sister is in US what are my chances of getting approval for electives? University in which I am selected is not big shot as Harvard, Yale etc.

Moreover, 3 months of electives are in between my internship completion and degree receiving. So I think I am an undergraduate during that period too.

Please tell me about which documents I need for Visa?

I'm curious how your sister is filing for PR holding an F1. AFAIK you cannot apply for PR when you're on F1. Your sister living there won't influence your visa process. It doesn't matter where you're going for an elective get your paper work right. When issuing a B1/B2 they want to be convinced that you will be coming back to your home country. I looked up USCIS when I applied and thing that seem to increase chances of B1/B2 approval are - previous travel history to other countries. Applying with family helped in most cases I know of. Some times the people at the consulate reject B1/B2 for electives because they think it's the wrong category to apply and they might ask you to get a student visa. So all you can do is take all the documentation possible. Even when you enter the states people at immigration are not always sure you're entering on the right visa when you're a visiting student on B1/B2. You just have to explain that to them with documentation. The process for B1/B2 is straight forward visit USCIS.
