Idea! The Rise of Spam & the inadequate amount of moderation

I've been a silent user of this great forum for quite some time; & only recently have I been seeing ever more increasing amounts of spam in all sections.

my 2 cents:

1- make signing up more stringent

2- force moderation of first 5(or any arbitrary number of) posts/threads of every new member; i.e new members' threads will not automatically get posted, until first seen by a mod. Or at least prevent them from posting links

3- more moderators. there are quite a few people that have a high activity & have good reputation. Give them some power, like deleting or modifying posts etc or just checking new member's posts(from point 1), stickying threads etc

4- the report system-why do i have to wait a full minute before i can report the next spam post? this should be reduced to 10 seconds at most.

hoping this forum gets even better, spam-free & helpful to all

Thumbs Up

Thank you very much for the great suggestions.

We'll work on all of them.

You are right, Spam has been increasingly more active in the forums and this is probably a sign that the forums are getting more popular

But you are right we need more moderation to clean out posts once they are posted.
