Arrow Yes, start applying now

Yes. It's a good idea to start applying for the California letter from now because it takes time. Do the work now, they'll take it and file your records and then later on when you do the CK you can send them the results and they'll finish the work.

Pros and Cons of California Letter:

No cons:

Pros: you will have the advantage of applying to residencies in California, many IMGs do not apply there just because they don't have that letter.

Default thank you sir!

Thank you sir! i really appreciated your help ( moving and answered my post) .
I read the complete post . So now i should start by paying the fees and getting my documents sign by my medical school? ( wich are those documents exactly?) because i could send those documents from california to Peru but will take more time than if i start tomorrow and talking with my dean , do you suggest me to do that or wait and do it step by step? wouldnt be a problem if i have it already signed by my dean . Wich documents need to be sealed by a notary?

i want to tell you my plan and give your valuable opinion and advices . I will be in california for two months studying for taking step2 cs in may ( i hope i can found a room and a study partner close to an img center) after that i already booked for an observership rotation in Miami trough the William Harrington program (if anyone need information about this just ask me) for three months because my experience in the USA medical system is null , I hope this effort improves my chances to get an interview for internal medicine and if possible try to apply this year.

I like California so much because of the weather and good mood people seems to have there . what do you think about this plan? this ptal process increases the chances or internal medicine programs in California are very competitive , my score for step1 is 82 and I'm taking CK in February before moving to California.

I will really appreciate your advices .thank you for your patience and for read this post. I will appreciate advices from everybody as well and if someone have any similar experience I will be really glad to hear about it.

thank you

Default Go ahead

follow the step mentioned in http://www.usmle-forums.com/residenc...how-apply.html guide one by one and see what you can do before coming.

I think the finger printing part cannot be done until you come to USA.

Good luck for your plans and definitely the California letter will increase your chances because there are over 30 Internal Medicine Residencies in California alone and you don't to lost that potential.
