New Home Page and New Forums!
Today we launched significant changes to our home page and we also added several new forums, moved, and deleted others.
The new home page now list all the forums (and subforums) including the new forums.
Tag Links from the home page:
The new home page also now have links to the most commonly used (popular tags) and also a link to the list of all tags. We noticed that members often miss the powerful tagging system of USMLE Forums and therefore we decided to link them right from the home page. So now for example you can access all of the USMLE Step 1 Questions posted by members right from the home page.
We figured that can be very useful for IMGs to share experiences and help each other. The IMG-FMG Forum has the following subforums; USCE-Clinical Rotations (this is the same externship/observership forum that we used to list under the residency match forum), ECFMF Forum (this is the same forum that we used to list under the General Topics Forum), and lastly a new forum (IMG Visa Issues) as we noticed many IMGs need to communicate about US visa issues.
Site Feedback, News, and Support:
This is whole new main forum that include three new subforums (feedback, site how to's support, and site news). This is to increase the site transparency and to listen to our members in order to get information on how best we can improve USMLE Forums. The news subforum (where am posting this thread) is a sort of communicating to you what changes we implement over time and to share with you behind-the-scene news and updates. The site how to's forum will eventually replace our FAQ section where noticed that members did not find useful.
Classifieds and Free Ads:
A whole new category of forums has been created. It includes Items for Sale & Wanted, Rooms & Housing, and Free Ads and Links. Our analytics have shown that there are increasingly more and more posts that can be categorized as classifieds and therefore we created this new forum/subforums. The Free Ads and Links is for people who want to advertise their services for free and for those who want to share a useful website or link with others. But, still we won't be allowing spam and non-sense posts in that forum.
The Externships/Observerships forum has been renamed to USCE-Clinical Rotations and is now moved as subforum below the IMG-FMG Forum.
The ECFMG Forum has been moved as subforum below the IMG-FMG Forum.
We deleted the USMLE Step 3 Study Partners Forum as we noticed very little use and most step 3 takers do not require study partners.
How come there are threads already in the new forums?
This because we moved old existing threads that can be classified under the new forums
Please let us know if experience problems with the new home page so that we can adjust accordingly.
All the best,
