Help Am graduate now, what USCE can I get?

Hi

I am a FMG YOG 2011 and and am going to take the step 1 in October 2011.

I wanted to ask that now that I am a graduate, how can I achieve USCE? So can someone specify what exactly an observership/clerkship/externship is? And what shall I be eligible for?
From what I have found out, I shall be eligible for an observership in a community hospital or in a private practice setup. Is this enough if I go for a match in Sep 2012? How do I approach for getting USCE? Should I start applying now?
And what is the process after I complete my step 1? What shall I be eligible for then? Shall I get an elective/clerkship?

I am very confused and don't know how to go about this. Someone please help

That was very helpful

But as a graduate, am I eligible only for an observership?

As a graduate you are eligible for observership or externship.
