Hello!
I also applied for the International observer program and submitted all the documents, but I didn't get any email back yet. Anyway, they say that I should expect to hear from them during the first 2 weeks in June. I applied for Gynecology observership in period 3 for October. Fingers crossed!:sorry:

Hello!

I am in the same situation. I applied for period 3 for Gynecology and sent all the necessary documents and I received an email in May (I guess) in which they told me that I should expect the final decision after 15th June. So, I guess we should wait for some time, but it is killing me all this waiting. Wish you good luck, maybe we'll see each other at the Clinic

Default Same situation

I applied for period 3 Pulmonology ... yet to receive a reply ....

I checked previous year's threads @ a different website and it says that some departments took a decision on the selection only @ August 7th (esp. Pulmonology) .... only the surgical divisions conveyed their decision around 15th -25th July .... the rest took their decision later ..... hence I think we need to be patient ...

I am really sorry to hear this. I am still waiting for their answer. What was the period you applied for? You can try to apply once more in 6 months, maybe they had too many applicants.

I received an email from Cleveland, saying they are unable to accommodate me for an observership. I don't know why, because they don't give any reason.

You just need to send the scanned copy on the same email. No need to send the hard copy by mail.

There is a new program launched by Cleveland clinic for Indian Medical students. I am in that program as a fellow with the program. All I can say is this is a great experience.

portals.clevelandclinic.org/gme/Home/ArticleViewer/tabid/5922/ArticleId/60/Cleveland-Clinic-Offers-Post-MBBS-Research-Training-Program-in-U-S-for-Medical-Graduates-of-India.aspx

Visit cleveland clinic website as above.

Hey Chin, thanks for that info. On their page, I couldn't get much information regarding the cost of program. So, can you tell us the cost/tuition fee of fellowship ?

Once you submit the ContactUs form they will send you all the relevant information. There are several programs and they will decide where you fit in based on your credentials.

I've applied for August, in Anesthesiology. I actually gave them a call and they've told me that no one has been informed yet because of a delay in the results and there might be news sometime next week. They've also confirmed that you receive notification either way; whether rejected or accepted.

I received a reply on the 14th telling me that I've been accepted thank God .
I was wondering if anyone who has done an observership before (whether there or otherwise) has any insight to how a typical day goes and what I can try to do to increase my chances of getting LORs ?

Is full ECFMG certification a must for this program? Can we apply with only Step1 and step2 scores?

Just bumping this up because I'm going in August and I was wondering what the experience is like? The work hours, what's expected of us, etc.
If anyone knows anything, please let me know because I'm planning on taking my last step a while after and I wanted to know if I'd be able to study while I'm there, so I can postpone my exam if necessary. Thanks.

You can apply to the international physician observer program in almost any speciality without any USMLE step if you're already a practicing physician. You only apply three times a year. If you apply now (and until Feb 2015), it will be for May, June or July. There's only a $200 application fee but this is actually really cheap compared to other programs which takes fees in the thousands.
I think you need to be ECFMG certified to apply to the global observership program and those are just internal medicine subspecialities. Good luck.

It's wonderful.

By the way on the orientation day there were over 20 international observers and I talked to most of them and they all applied online in that link I mentioned and none of them had connections or at least this what they told me
Were you practising in some health facility when you applied for that program?? because they say in the site that only actively practising docotors shall be taken.
