Ohio Cleveland Clinic Observership Program

Cleveland Clinic offers online application to their International Physician Observer Program. I know two people that have made it there without connections.
The web application link is this
http://my.clevelandclinic.org/ccform...plication.aspx

Of course, am not saying that everybody will be accepted when applying there but it worth trying.

Just wanted to share this with you guys.

Thumbs Up

Guys
I was able to get in

They answered me and I joined the endocrine department.

It's wonderful.

By the way on the orientation day there were over 20 international observers and I talked to most of them and they all applied online in that link I mentioned and none of them had connections or at least this what they told me

If you don't hear from them 2 weeks after you apply online then this means that you are not accepted. This is what Sarah Beigi (she's in charge of the International Students Affairs) told me last week.

As if they have spots this year or not, it depends on what you want to do. They have many many departments and placements, some of them are full and others are not full.

The best thing is that you apply online using the link I mentioned up.

There's no payment whatsoever at the time I did it 3 months ago. Are they ask for payment now?

Oh, no that's a different link. That's Florida program. I went to the original Ohio site and I did endocrinology one month.
I stayed in a sharing accommodation.

Today I got an email from them asking if I would be interested for observership in Pediatrics Department. I applied for observership at Genomic Medicine but apparently they do not offer that position But that's OK since my ultimate goal is to get accepted in pediatrics anyway and I think this observership will enrich my clinical experience.

I applied for endocrinology for period 1 of next year, they sent me an email saying endo has no observorship but I can choose to do it in gastro, radio, cardio and a few other departments that they mentioned but I don't remember. They asked for two LORS and USMLE score reports and said they'll let me know in oct whether I got it or not. I replied with the required documents and chose gastro. fingers crossed!!!:sorry:

Hello,

I was accepted for an observership at the Cleveland Clinic for 2 weeks from mid august till beginning of September 2011. I was wondering if people that already attended theirs can help me with some issues:

1-where did you stay during your stay in Cleveland?
2-do they give out recommendation letters after you attend?

Thank you

I applied in july .... u don't need any contacts ... it is easier to get into pediatric subspecialities ... and it's easier if u have good step 1 scores and also u need 2 LORs ... hope this helps

The letter of verification of enrollment in a foreign program/employment at an institution is either
an official document from your University attesting to the fact that you are currently enrolled in the medical school program, along with expected date of graduation.
Official letter from hospital employer indicating your employment or registration in a residency or fellowship program

Default Big Problem

I just realized that being a Graduate and not employed in any service means U are not eligible for this International Physician Observership Program and the other one Global Physician Observership Program requires U to be ECFMG certified. So I think M exactly in between these two and so Expecting a positive reply will be worthless.

My situation is just like you. I am a graduate but am not working as a resident somewhere, so I am not eligible for the International physician observer program. I can only go there if I am a current resident or a physician at a hospital, or I am a current student at a medical school.
As I am not one of them so I can't apply there.

The Global Clinical Observer Program requires ECFMG certification. If you have that then you can apply to that program. I don't have it yet so I can't apply to either of these 2 programs.
Hope this makes it clear.

Hi

I have a weird situation. I can apply for the International physician Observership program as of now because i am currently employed at an Institution but the tenure ends on 31st Jan2012 so my question is --Is it okay if im not employed at the time for which i choose to do the observership lets say Oct - Nov2012? I can still get the letter now n apply quickly but wud that be okay?

Also they dont give LORs only attendance certificate..so will that help with getting into residency programs ?

Please reply soon!

@doxorubicin I received an email 4 days ago, I applied for the same department
Don't worry about being accepted or not, they told me before that the letter of acceptance is to be sent to you in the first 2 weeks of February so it's till 15 Feb. 2012 where you can say this.

Hello!

I received an email today from Cleveland Clinic saying that I should submit all the papers in order for my application from to be complete. I applied for Department of Gynecology, Surgical, period 3. I have 2 questions:

1. Is it true that at the end of the Program they do not give any letters of recommendations?
2. When I applied (December 2011) I was a resident in my first year, but after a month and a half I interrupt my residency and came to Usa. What should I do now with the letter of verification?

Please...I need you response. Maybe someone had the same situation as mine.

Default selected for Cleveland observership

hi all
I have been selected for observership at Cleveland in Neonatology for July month this year.
Is there anyone else selected for that period or anyone who has already done it?
Please guide me how was the program like ? and what else can be required which they have not asked like do I need to have health insurance or malpractice insurance for that period?
