search this website
http://www.usmletomd.com/usce/

It has the most comprehensive list of all externships available.

However, as far as I know that a surgery hands-on externship is very difficult to get and I suggest you pay money for that with Americlerkships.

Default Hi

Thanks for your reply to my thread

I'm an intern in Suez Canal Uni. Hospital in Ismailia city, Egypt. I'm interested in surgery to the marrow and I have plans to prepare for the USMLE but since getting a residency in surgery in USA is near impossible, I need to promote my skills to deserve future positions in surgery at time of matching. I tried to search for hands-on training in the USA and I only could find one at Texas Heart Institute but they later informed me that there's no position available for me (may be because I'm an IMG and the priority there is for native Americans) so now I need hands-on training in surgery to support myself in the field.

Please if you have any idea how to make me reach my goal, I'll appreciate that if you provided support to me.

Thanks in advance

Yes we can help, as a matter of fact I just spoke with one of my doctors who did 4 weeks of Internal Medicine training and 16 weeks of General Surgery and he has Matched in a University program in Denver. When do you plan on taking your step 1 exam? Perhaps we can place you in the same location this doctor was in, he was able to gain excellent exposure and was also able to participate in research in the same hospital.

Default Hi

Thanks for your rapid response ,, Actually I'm preparing for step 2 ck right now and I intend to take the exam in the eligibility period extending from July to September 2010. As I told you previously I'm involved in my internship training now so I don't have time to study in a steady manner. Concerning your offer, I'd like to have the opportunity to be involved in hands-on training in surgery but if I'm going to travel to USA I have to travel before August 31st 2010 as I'm not allowed to travel after the mentioned date.
So what are your suggestions concerning my situation,

Thanks again
