1st thing, congrats on the elective !

the day starts at around 5:15 am and ends around 5 to 7 pm, your discipline in being there early and leaving with signing out will really be appreciated.

Most Neurosurgeons are tough. residents will be always swamped with work. and many times you'll feel unwelcomed or not cared for. just persist and don't expect someone to look after you.
know all the faculty names on the first day, their clinic schedule and their OR schedule for the coming days/week if possible.

Ur morning should be in the OR and when U have time on your hand, either shadow the senior resident or better round on the pts., follow up cases for the attendings. take calls with the residents, it'll give you a great insight on how things actually go in the hospital and U'll get to C great cases first handed !

A good source to start with is "handbook of neurosurgery by Greenberg" if u seek more resources ask the residents.

Always be on the look for interesting cases, look for projects to participate in during your time of stay there. don't be just focused on LORs, connect with people and U never know what could happen in the future.

one last word:
WORK YOUR ASS OFF !
good luck
