Certificate ECFMG certificate for externship

Can anyone plz tell me, that once our all steps (step 1 &2) are complete and we have the results, how much time does it take for the ECFMG to issue the ECFMG certificate, which is required to do externship...or can we start the externship with just having the results of these 2 steps while ecfmg is issuing the certificate....?
Thanks in Advance

I passed my step 2 on Wednesday (the 16th of november) i got an email with a tracking number from ECFMG for a fed ex package on friday with a package delivery date of monday the 21st . I checked my profile and When checking ECFMG certificate it states my certificate as issued on november 18th(friday).

Long story short they should be sending you your certificate soon enough dont worry. When i called them on the day of my step 2 rtesult they say i would get my certificate within 10 days of being eligable ie passing all my steps.

Hi, there are many programs that don't require steps or ECFMG certificate for observership/externship (see the list in my site). But anyway, your certificate will be mailed to you by fedex in mx 2 weeks IF your creds. are already verified by ECFMG.

Are those programs reputed..? i mean do they hold the same value as those who require an ECFMG certificate...?
