Hi, I recently found a research position.the professor who I am going to do research for is agree to give me observership opportunity too. My problem is that this professor seems to have a little tie to the university at this time and I am going to work with him in private clinic and hospital.I asked him if he wants to give me the reccomendation letter, would it have the logo of the university and he said yes, because still some residents come to do rotation with him. I am really worry because I am moving completely to his city and leaving my husband just because of this position. I don't know does it really worth to put time on this or not? Does working for a university professor(I am not even sure how much he has tie to the university)in his private clinic have any value? I really don't want to waste my time. Please any advice.thanks

Depends on the qualification of the professor and productiveness of research in the end I guess. If the professor was/is actively involved in the residency program and if the research would lead to a publication/poster, it might be useful. If not, its always better to work in an university especially when considering all the factors. Another advantage in doing research at university program is the constant interaction with residents, attending noon conferences and morning rounds, etc. All of these would helpful in building contacts
