Help US Research Volunteer Versus Overseas Clinical Experience!

Dear forum members,
I am a US citizen and IMG, graduated 2010 and did Internship for 1 year outside the US, finished step 1 score 220, done CS results not yet, still have CK to do, I have done 2 months Observership in US and got 2 LOR , NOW
I have been offered to be a volunteer in a regenerative medicine research center ( it is a lab where they try to develop organs and other products by working on stem cells and experimenting on animals) but the thing is they told me that even if I work with them for a year( until the match of next year)
they said it is unlikely for me to have any papers or publications.
another option for me is to go and work as a GP outside the US and develop my clinical skills.
NOW my concerns are
1- If I do this I wont have enough clinical skills when I match next year (hopefully).
2- I am afraid this will affect my studying for CK
3- It wont help me to increase my matching chances (no publications).
SO guys what do you think should I do my CK and Practice outside the US a little then look for a research or other forms of USCE Just before the interview season? or should I just go for it?

I really appreciate your answers.

I'd choose the US experience even if it is not clinical and not associated with publications.

The reason being, Residency Program directors would value a US LoR way more than any overseas LoR even if the actual practice was better.

Also, to have volunteered in a such a great research would be greatly appreciated here in US even if it has not come up with publications yet.

I'd choose the volunteer in US and don't worry you'll find the time to study.
