Cool Who here has done clinical rotations and has US experience?

I am curious, who here has US clinical experience on their belt?

At the moment I am far far away from getting any To busy prepping for the steps atm together with actually doing my school as well .

I am to graduate June 2013, and I am wondering - from your experience and knowledge, will I be able to get my certification done with the ECFMG by September 2013 with getting my degree in June? That is if I get my steps done ofc .

So apart from the q's upon, I wonder... how and when to get some US clinical experience. All I have atm is voulunteer work which I did during my undergrad study in Colorado which is soooo not on hand experience!

You have any ideas? How did you solve the "problem" of getting experience?

As always, tyvm for your help

its not a 'problem'

most students do their step 1 after basic sciences and before clinical rotations.
in fact, its strange to me when I hear people have clinical rotations under their belt and are now studying for step 1, but some programs work that way.

I may not have been clear in my wording, I am wondering about US clinical rotations or hands on experience I am an IMG and am in my clinical years here in Norway, I did not decide upon going back to the US until I started my clinical years, so I am unfortinatly stuck studying for Step 1, while in clinical rotations here However, I would like to find a way and time to get some US experience as well, if not... all my LORs will be "non-US" which I have understood is not a very good thing when trying to get a Residency in the US.

oh ok
where in Norway? Oslo? (I have many friends in Oslo)
I've always heard mixed things about whether where you do your rotations plays any role in your residency application.
I'm still not sure what to believe. I'm just going to play it safe and do them in the states after i finish this step.

How far are you in your studies? When do you graduate?

I am in Trondheim, will graduate in 2013. Hopefully I haven't started to late! I plan taking the step 1 in September if I get prepared well enough
