Default UCSD Elective

Is it a requirement for UCSD that your school be listed in the Medical Board of California ?

Yes, it is required that your school must be listed in the Medical Board of California. To check if your school is listed, use the link : http://www.mbc.ca.gov/Applicants/Med...ecognized.aspx
It is a requirement because once you plan to apply for the residency you need PTAL and PTAL is issued to students who are from these schools.

Has any IMG here been accepted for an elective in UCSD? I'm interested in applying and I was accepted in the pre-application (I guess everybody gets accepted? ) so I would like to know if it's worth the effort to apply.

Really? That's weird because you don't even provide enough information in the pre-application form....how do they even select certain people? I guess I will apply then. Maybe you chose a time with high demand or competitive rotations?

The pre-application screening form is only used to see where the applicant is studying medicine. If the applicant is not attending a medical school approved by the Medical Board of California, they are not eligible to participate in electives. You must be a final year medical student also, I think this is obvious though. Good luck!

Has anyone gotten any information about being accepted to the program? I literally submitted my application on the deadline (July 1st-- YESTERDAY) and they emailed me saying they got it. Im just worried they do acceptance on a rolling basis and I won't even be considered. Any info guys!

Did you submit malpractice insurance at the time of application? I am afraid that it could be a total waste of money applying for ucsd with the malpractice insurance
