Default elective Jan-March 2017 @ cornell anyone?

Anyone taking electives at Weill Cornell between January and March 2017?? PM me.

I am applying in a couple days.. am i too late?

Are they too harsh on judging applications? I don't have much experience or research work on hand.

Are electives really important when applying for residency matches? or does a good score outweigh not having LORs on hand?

Hi!
To Answer Arti - you might be a little late to apply for January considering how they've mentioned on their website that we need to apply 6 months in advance. But you could always call up their Office and ask them if they are still accepting applications for the months you've mentioned. I have applied for the months of Feb-Mar-Apr. I had sent in my application about a month and a half back. I haven't heard from them yet, but they do reply pretty late. I am expecting a reply from them by December. I hope I get in, but if I don't I already have a spot at Florida International University's Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
About what they judge your elective application on - I had called up their Office before applying and asked them the same question. The lady told me that the only thing that they are judging applications on were the Transcripts and to some extent on the Statement of Intent. I am not sure how much of a role Research Experience plays in this.
As for how important electives are - I recently had the opportunity to attend a seminar by Dr Steven Daugherty (the person who did the Behavioural Sciences Lectures for Kaplan and who now works at Becker.) and a few people asked him the same question - he mentioned that as a program director one would be more comfortable accepting people who have had an experience of working in the American Healthcare System, someone who knows the rhythm so to speak. He also mentioned that LoRs play an important role in the residency application although people have been known to get placed even without them.

PS: If anyone knows anyone who will be at FIU's HWCOM during the months of February and March, let me know so I can share accommodations.

first of all, i sincerely apologize for replying so late..

I also want to apply at FIU but i m wondering what I will do in case I get accepted at Cornell for the same duration.. and i m also wondering how much weight it holds on the application considering its a new institution..

but I am applying regardless so.. How did u find the application process..
How much time do they take to process the application and give the final decision?

and.. i m going apply to FIU Feb/march so Ill be more than happy to share accomodations if i do get in..
i cant PM yet because i m new on this forum but hopefully we can share details after..

Ive selected Jan through March for cornell so i m hoping they fit me in somewhere
the only thing holding me back from applying to FIU is the fact that i dont want the time duration to clash..

any advice on how i should go about that?
