Default clinical electives.

Hello.
I'M currently in my final year of medicine. I have tried to apply for clerkships without any luck. Not given step1.
Harvard, Yale, Weill Cornell, Alpert Brown have all stopped taking IMGs, a friend told me.
what should i do?
medclerkdhips and amo are offering only paid externships.
How do I get a clerkship soon?
Kindly advise.

You should check the international visiting student guidelines of the universities yourself and not rely on other peoples suggestions solely, for they might be misleading at times.

As far as I know:

Harvard : accepts IMGs, POINT TO NOTE- the fee is exorbitant around $4800

Yale: accepts IMGs, POINT TO NOTE - only open till Nov 16 rotation

Cornell: accepts IMGs, POINT TO NOTE- some departments and hospitals associated with cornell don't have spots for IMGs so be sure to email or call their International visiting student contact before applying.

Brown: Accepts IMGs, POINT TO NOTE- has closed it temporarily for the rest of 16-17 session and will hopefully re open for 17-18 session

If you have not given step 1 try with FIU, Mt. Sinai(you can ask them to waive off the step 1 requirement in lieu of your basic science score), Cornell, Harvard, Alabama.
And you have to apply atleast 6-8 months in advance (8-9months for sinai)

Also it is usually tough to get into these during summers because of the direct competition for spots with their own/US med students.
Try the winter months for they are relatively easy to get(I'm saying relatively so keep in mind it's not easy and the programs are highly competitive but as compared to summer months it definitely is easier)

Do read the guidelines on their websites thoroughly before applying.

Also there is a nice article on this forum about how to get the electives for international students check that out for reference.
