Default Clinical Documentation Specialist- USCE?

Hello guys,
I was wondering if a clinical documentation specialist (CDS), counts as US clinical Experience. I think its what they used to call a "scribe". Is it of any use to get one of these jobs before applying to residency and would it look good on your curriculum? Or is it better to do observerships/clerkships being an IMG.

From what i understand its basically that you follow the physician in the department he is in and document the patient encounter, plus maybe get some hands on "experience".
I assume you could get a letter of recommendation from a doctor but not sure.
The good thing though is that you get paid.
