Hello friends,
My elective application is selected by Weill Cornell medical center;Paediatric Nephrology, Jan-Feb 2017.
Is there anyone who has already done an elective there? Please do share your experiences. I am also looking for a female roomate near the college.

Will you please let me know when you submitted your application to Weil Cornell? I have heard that you must submit it at least 10 months before your elective start date. I wish to do an elective in May/June and am going to submit my application in the next week or so.

Hello everyone,
Sorry for the late reply. I applied in Mid June for Jan - March 2017 elective. I got a reply from them by the end of August. For any university apply for Jan - March slot because June to Aug will be highly competitive due to AMG's.

They don't ask for steps score in order to apply for short term clerkships. But they do for long term >12 wks

With your steps score? They are hundreds of colleges out there which give you clerkships with steps score.

Hey guys,

Is there any special eligibility criteria regarding the attending medical college? In the application form they specifically mentioned students from "approved medical colleges" are eligible to apply. What does that mean?

No I don't think they have a list of colleges that can apply.

They are talking about ACMG accredited, affiliated and some osteopathic colleges from which AMG's are easily accepted.

What do they mean by dates can be repeated while electives codes cannot be repeated. can anyone clarify regarding these:

(i.e. MEDC 8108 09 is the same as MEDC 8108 10 and do not count as different electives). Some examples of acceptable application forms include (but not limited to):

There are two things they ask- the dates and the elective choices
In the dates part, you have 3 options you can enter based on your availability and you can enter 9 elective choices.
In this code- MEDC 8108 09, "MEDC 8108" is the elective code and "09" stands for the dates (it's all there in the catalog)
So when you enter your elective choices as MEDC 8108 09 and MEDC 8108 10, it'll stand for the same elective but for different dates. So before you enter your choices make sure the elective code (eg MEDC 8108) is different.
Hope this helps

Yeah you can apply anywhere. In the catalog they've mentioned that we can't apply for electives at MSK and Methodist. If you open details for any elective the location of the elective is also mentioned.

Yeah scan everything including the LoRs and send it in PDF via email. the ID is on the website
It's better if it's on his/her letterhead or college letterhead with contact info for follow up questions

Besides the Deans LoR, their website doesn't mention requiring any other LoRs unless you're applying for psychiatry.
I'd attached 3 letters anyway. They should be from the professors who have observed you clinically. It probably makes more sense to have an LoR from the same dept you're aiming for.

Sure. Thank you Arpita.
What about the SOP? (P.S). Do we have to write for all the departments we are applying since there are 9 different electives.
For exxmaple: I chose paeds and radio and IM then am i supposed to write SOP for all of these

Um I don't think so. I'd just written one SOP and I applied for IM and Emergency med I think. It's ok, the idea is to write about what drives you, why you're becoming a doctor, what your future plans are, why they should select you etc. Make sure it is directed towards the elective you want to do.

Hi Chaitra!
Congratulations on your elective acceptance!
I will be in NYC for an elective at the MSKCC, close to Cornell Medical Center, from January 1 to 28.
I will be studying for step 2 CS and I am looking for a live study partner to practice. Please let me know if you are interested!
Hi smisadora
your dates match pretty much with mine. have you figured out your accommodation yet?
