Question Elective During the Holiday month of December!

I have a stupid question but I really need an answer for it !
I am doing my elective in December, and I wonder how much holiday the Americans will have on that month? because I am thinking to change it to January because i don't want to spend my month in a holiday doing nothing!

What kind of elective you are going for?
If it is official elective, then they for sure have a schedule and plan for you and you won't be wasting your time.

December has two long weekends, Christmas and New Year but hospitals do not close of course and they may still give you a schedule with somebody.

I also got an elective in December month and a bit worried about the holidays. Mine is in the department of critical care. I asked the elective coordinator about the dates she told to come on December 1st and should stay there till Dec 31st.
