I dont know which country you belong to but I had send a travel cum health insurance plan from my local insurance company in India and it was accepted.
So dont worry in a travel insurance plan too they cover your health problems so its not an issue.

I didn't apply for it yet. I am searching for the best insurance providing company for taking the Personal life insurance policy for me. I would like to have complete details regarding these companies and also about the policy ranges that they provides in the name of premiums.

Hey I've heard you need to have a valid visa and tickets before you apply for travel insurance. I don't have a visa yet and I'll apply after I am accepted, how do I proceed with my application? Cornell needs health insurance and travel insurance proof at the time of application :/

Tickets : No
Visa: maybe depends on the company's policy
You should apply via the local office of the company instead of asking the customer support rep. And most of the policies are fully refundable if you cancel it well in time.
