California California clinical training

Something interesting to me is how there are companies that are offering clinical training programs to IMGs in California when it is specifically prohibited by the medical board.

I would hope that all companies out there would look out for the best interest of their doctors.

Here is something interesting to read, I hope this is helpful to you guys

Sure of course! I am glad that I am able to provide any useful information possible. Now if your school is on the California Approved list you can do clinical electives. Here is the link to that list

its basically illegal for those who do private clerkships/externships with private doctors,as far as my knowledge is concerned..but as we being undergraduates and will be applying to university hospitals it wont be illegal to do that!! right??

You will need to do your training with the proper insurance coverage, as long as you have this your training will not be illegal. In order for it to be considered a teaching program you need to be evaluated clinically and graded at the end of each clinical block. I hope this helps

Thanks for your post. Is it illegal for foreign medical graduates to have hands-on experience in California, even from universities included in the approved list? Thank you!
