Hi,
Has anyone done observership in university of texas, houston? How long do they take for application process and give a reply?
Anybody please reply?:sorry:
Did you need sponsorship from a faculty member to get this position? If you don't mind sharing, can you provide more details on which department/school you applied to?
Dr S, thanks for your reply. If you have all the proper references/sponsorship in place, then it should merely be a matter of processing the paperwork. Have you heard back from them yet?
Based on your experience, is it easy to get a faculty member to sponsor you or are they very selective? I am thinking that I may request my clerkship professor to sponsor me for something similar down the road.
I had a senior of mine doing fellowship, and he found a sponsor for me,but then he told me it was not easy to find. I have send my applications around 3 weeks back, waiting for the approval..I have asked for the month of feb and march..
Your application has to go through 3 or 4 departments for review and approval. That is why it is taking time. It might just be sitting on someone's desk who is out on vacation. Clerkship process is simple it only goes to one department for review.
Regardless, once you hear back from UT HSC, please post your final thoughts here for the benefit of others.
Just for an update,,,I got approved for observership in endocrinolgy in the university of texas 2 wks ago..Made the payment last week, now waiting for acceptance letter..best of luck to all..
I was told to send an email to the Residency Program Coordinator of each hospital, but I don't know "mail etiquette". Is there a thread with help on this?
Also, do Hospitals charge you for having you there doing an observership, etc?
hey i was applying for a observership at UT houston in gastroenterology but i was having problems with the sterling consent form.could someone help me out?
im from india
In University of Texas, Houston, they don't have a formal observership program. The applicant need to identify internal medicine faculty in first step that will sponsor them for an observership.
Can any one help:
-what things one should mention in email for sponsoring Faculty member?
-can we send emails to multiple members in same or different department?
-what if one sponsor says No, should I look for an other one?

Hi guys.. even I am in Houston TMC , currently searching for obsrverships and preparing for step 3 in TMC library.. if any one is interested we can discuss further on all these...
Hey Cheri just wanted to know Is there any procedure to join the library ???even am interested in doing an Observership not finding any.....planning on stydng for step 3.....
Anybody still following this thread? I am going to do an observership at UT Houston starting on August 1 in the cardiology department. Plan to take my step 3 there too.
.I have a few doubts ....
1. How early should we apply for the observership and under what category should we apply (observer, visiting scientist , visiting student trainee) ?
2. There is nothing mentioned about the duration of observership ? is it for one month and what's the maximum duration we can do observership for ?
Thanks in advance
