Question What does this mean?

Research and serving as an observer would not fall under the criteria of U.S. clinical experience.

Now a days lot of programs like writing this sentence in there website. So is that mean. They are encouraging us to

1. Not apply to there program OR
2. Use those externship company services.

Meanwhile, I can't see much of reviews from folks regarding there externship experience with these externship companies. Is that means- No one do externship by there service or they are some special terms with these companies regarding not telling there experience.
I have searched a lot for both observership programs and externship companies but still not able to get into a decision. Any information regarding this would be helpful. Thanks

It probably means: start early for the prized scalp of residency...otherwise you are out of the race.....If you havenot done electives probably your chances in such programs are very low...but dont worry its just a small number btw

hey buddy,
this means exactly what u thought....but dont get discouraged..you can still apply for a try and i know my 3 seniors who got matched in family medicine, peds, and IM ...without any USCE.......if they grant u interview try to impress them and if they like you they will take regardless of anything else.....and remember all those who dont have any contacts still get into programme and all those who have contacts dont get matched surely.....so best is do your best and leave rest upto GOD.....all the best....

An observership at a respected hospital is better than a paid externship at any other ordinary hospital.
"Who" writes the letter of recommendation is as important as "whats" in the letter of recommendation.
