Default USCE in California for an IMG

Hey, I'm an IMG from India, Indian citizen currently holding a 10 year multiple entry B1 visa. I have a couple of contacts who might be able to arrange an observership/externship like situation for me at some university hospitals in California. But before approaching them, i'd like to know more about doing observerships in California, as in, how different is it compared to other states, visa requirements (specifically if it can be done under the B1 i currently hold) and stuff like that.

Any help, advice or links to the above queries would be much appreciated!

Observership and research clinical rotations are permitted in California.

Hands-on Externship/Clinical rotations are only permitted when enrolled in a state approved program.

ACA is approved by the State of California BPPE to offer:
- Advanced Medical Assisting programs
- A one of a kind Medical College Track program
- A highly specialized Medical Residency Track program
- Physician supervised clinical externship sites across the United States

With a B1 (tourist/visitor) visa you can complete non-credit/volunteer Physician supervised insured hands-on clinical rotation in California.

We dont recommend research or observership rotations since numerous research articles rank these clinical rotations low among the selection criteria for residency.

Contact me for more detailed information.

Best - Victor

Thank you for the reply and information.

But i'm already a medical graduate from India. Don't you need to be a current medical student to be applicable to clerkship/clinical rotations? That's why i was asking about observerships and externships!

Internship and elective rotations are for medical students/medical graduates.

Physician supervised insured hands-on clinical externship rotations are for medical graduates that have completed their internship and elective rotations.

The purpose of completing hands-on internship, elective and externship clinical rotations in the US is for USCE and secure competitive Clinical Evaluations and LORs.

If you are a medical graduate that has completed all internship and elective rotations we can help you complete Physician supervised insured hands-on clinical externship rotations in California.

We help many medical students and graduates from India each year.

What is the best email to send you more detailed information?

Best - Victor
