Advertisement Externships and Clinical Elective Rotations in Chicago

Chicago Clerkships offers high quality hands-on clinical placements in all primary care and specialty areas. Placements are with board certified physicians attached to community and teaching hospitals, with combined inpatient/outpatient experience (actual hospital time varies across specialties). We also offer some unique placements, such as primary care in a psychiatric hospital, as well as medical research internships. Both IMGs seeking externships and medical students seeking clinical electives are eligible to apply. Our fees are highly competitive, and we assist with housing and transportation guidance, as well as CV and personal statement preparation.

To apply and for more information, visit our website at www.chicagoclerkships.com, email us at info@chicagoclerkships.com, or look for us on facebook.

Default Fees and Hospital Opportunities

Hi Brian,
I am not really clear what you are asking. Can you rephrase the question?

Default Answer to question

University hospitals? We only have one rotation with an MD who is faculty at Rush University Hospital. Most of the rotation, however, takes place in his outpatient office, as he is highly committed to keeping his patients out of the hospital (preventive medicine). We have some other doctors that are affiliated with teaching hospitals that are not university-based.

You should understand that for the most part, IMGs are not welcome as part of the learning community at most hospitals that have residency programs, especially university hospitals. It is really difficult, near impossible, to get this kind of placement if you have already graduated. In some cases you can find an observership, but an observership will not give you an LOR that attests to your clinical skills (because you are just watching).

If you are a current student, the situation is a little different.

Again, as far as inpatient/oupatient ratios during the rotation, we do have some 100% hospital rotations, but these are rare as well. The inpatient/outpatient ratio depends on the specialty. Primary care tends to be more weighted toward outpatient, but we do have some unique situations that involve primary care and hospital. Sub-specialties and surgery are more weighted to hospital.

Feel free to email us if you have further questions.

Default Hidden Fees Question

No hidden fees! The fees quoted on the website are valid. No membership fee, nothing extra unless you request it.

Please read carefully to understand what the fees include and what they do not include. We'll be happy to clarify anything you don't understand. We are strongly committed to transparency and honesty in this regard.

Thank you for your quick response

It might be hard, but definitely not impossible to find inpatient clerkships post graduation at university hospitals

I recently completed one and am on the hunt for others.. Good luck to everyone searching

Default University Hospital Externships

Congratulations, Dr.Bear. That is great news! Good luck with your search. However I'd like to reiterate that the university/non-university hospital is really a minor point in the whole package, if relevant at all. There may be some on the various program committees that think this is important. But the research done on program directors does not support the idea that this is an issue when selecting candidates for interviews.

For more information about this and about planning, please visit our blog at:

Help externship for graduate students

hi!
i would like to know if you can provide externship program for Medical graduates. I graduated from my medical school in China in the year 2011. Now, although I am already enrolled in Masters program, I am very much interested in USCE. But, I am strictly looking for clinical experience.
I'm planning on Step 1 in July and then would like to have at least one month USCE. I heard a lot about CHICAGO CLERKSHIP and if I can get real Patient- doctor experience, I'll be glad to learn and join.
please reply or IM.

Default Internal Medicine Rotations

Hello! I'm not sure when you emailed, but sorry about the delay in responding.

We have internal medicine rotations with board certified physicians who are affiliated with Advocate Lutheran, Advocate Illinois Masonic, and Rush University Medical Center. All of these sites have residency program. Please understand that internal medicine is primary care so you will be doing mostly outpatient, but the experience is excellent, you get a lot of clinical work and the doctors will take you on rounds with them when they go.

You can email me directly at info at chicagoclerkships.com.
