Advertisement Hands-On Clinical Electives and Clerkships in New York City and several East Coast Locations

Attention 2014 Residency Applicants and International Medical Students & Graduates:

MedClerkships.com would like to announce clerkship, externship, and medical school clinical elective availability in New York City and several locations on the East Coast. Start dates are available in April, May, and June 2013. These rotations provide an opportunity to secure Letters of Recommendation (LORs), hospital based inpatient US Clinical Experience (USCE), and CV/Resume references. Maximize your networking in SOAP by taking advantage of great opportunities to gain LORs now in many available specialties. Strengthen your next application by not allowing gaps in your clinical experience and building your personal connections. All LORs are guaranteed to be written personally by our board certified preceptors and on hospital letterhead

Multiple specialties are available now. Apply today at http://www.medclerkships.com/apply

Substantial discounts are available for multiple rotation premium packages. Discounts available if you already have your own: malpractice insurance, certifications in HIPAA/OSHA/Blood Borne/ACLS/BLS, visa. **Visa invitation letters available upon request.**

Improve your history taking and physical examination skills. Learn how to work with multiple electronic medical records (EMR) systems as a majority of hospital systems have gone to the cloud. Master the art of clinical documentation. Hands on clinical work with patients to improve your English proficiency and communication skills. Learn groundbreaking new treatments and the latest in medicine during teaching rounds, bedside rounds, and hospital lectures. These are skills that program directors admire from applicants to demonstrate evidence of clinical competency. Enroll in our residency consultation services for an even greater opportunity to interact with former IMGs and AMGs currently in residency training to get a one-on-one analysis of your residency application.

We are also very excited to announce new affiliations with hospitals in Atlanta, GA. Take advantage of our new discount package rates and payment plans available now. Ask about our new bonus board review materials and tailored study packages for our premium packages.

***Inquire about our new Student Diplomat Program – We recruit suitable applicants to expand our network of clients and physicians for a commission fee or discounted rotations. Join our growing team!***

Hi, I believe I replied to your email this morning before seeing this post

We have several openings in NYC in specialties such as Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pulmonary Critical Care, etc

All of our rotations in NYC are guaranteed to have board certified preceptors and accredited by ACGME. Our experience is mostly inpatient at university hospitals. All of our LORs are guaranteed to be written uniquely for our clients by our preceptors and ALWAYS on hospital letterhead.

If you have any other questions, please let me know or contact me directly at admin@medclerkships.com

No problem at all... we understand how valuable excellent USCE and LORs are for our clients' careers.

MedClerkships prides itself on going the extra mile to make sure our clients get the most out of our experience, even if that includes sometimes turning clients away because their desired clerkship does not benefit their residency application.

We currently have had 2 students drop out of our Pediatrics, Pulmonary Critical Care, and Internal Medicine rotations due to visa issues. Each one of these clients had enrolled in 1 rotation each in each specialty. Essentially, we have six new spots open for the coming months.

Inquire today as 2 spots were already filled by clients on our standby list.

So far its great! Traveling in between the hospitals has been annoying in the rain but being able to rotate in hospital rounds has been very interesting. Are the Atlanta rotations approved yet? I was looking into the programs down there as the residency programs seem to have alot of IMGs. Georgia is very FMG friendly?

@DocGuilo - how is the actual experience? we can't control the weather! lol

In all seriousness, we pride ourselves in giving our clients the most exposure to as many hospitals as we can. Many other services promise you hospital time and shove you in a private clinic, never seeing the inside of a hospital.

As an IMG, the most exposure to the US healthcare system you can get can only benefit you down the line.

And yes, Atlanta rotations are officially approved. We are currently offering a 100% inpatient rotation in the following:

1) Surgery (General, ENT, & Plastic)
2) OB/GYN
3) Psychiatry (work with AMGs and residents)

It does seem that Georgia has many FMG/IMG friendly programs indeed. Please contact me at admin@medclerkships.com if you would like to discuss our new Atlanta programs in depth.

Good point, guess the weather is out of everyone's hands. It's actually cold in ny today. My days actually really busy, I have been doing alot of h&p and soap notes. I think I assessed 10 patients today but the best part was the medical conference today with some rep who brought a free gourmet lunch to listen to some new hypertension drug. Just networking with the doctors is great at these things... Can I ask to work with them and get more LoRs? Or is there some sort of policy on this?

Also I sent a email to my coordinator miss martin this morning regarding the internal medicine full inpt., haven't heard back. I know your busy but can you please switch my last 2 months to that? Just met a student named rakesh at the conference who said he did it with a IM/pulmonary CC doc in the ICU? Really would appreciate it if you can make that happen for me. I can drop off payment at your office if there is any availability.

@DocGuilo I'm very pleased to hear that you are having a fruitful experience. Regarding reaching out to other doctors for LORs, there is definitely no policy against that as any networking you choose to do to benefit your career is your prerogative. I actually strongly urge you to network and make the most of your exposure to the physicians you come in contact with - you never know how that connection will benefit your career later on.

It is not unheard of for our clients to secure interviews at the hospitals at which theyve completed their USCE through our service, it's just a matter of how hungry you are and how much of a good impression you make.

Yes, we have availability in our 100% inpatient Pulmonary Critical Care/Internal Medicine program - please contact me directly at admin@medclerkships.com to sort out the details

Hey yeah I did an abstract, and also published in a upcoming medical journal. Some other student said he was writing to publish in a medical book. Ask to talk to the company physicians they have a few different research opportunities. There's 4 different doctors that assign the research I think

Hello,
I had a question that I was hoping you could answer. Would it possible to obtain 2 different LOA's on hospital letterhead for a one month rotation or would it be required to do the two or three month rotation? Thanks in advance

I've been in touch with them for the past 2 weeks and got good support so far. I'm in the final steps of accepting their offer but I haven't heard back from them since Friday. Left message on the voice mail box and hope to hear from them soon.

And yes, Step 1 is required as far as I was told.

Have you heard from them yet? What do you mean by final step? Do you mean submitting the payment?

Can anyone else provide their experience with MedClerkships?

@DrEa

I believe we already spoke several times via email and placed you in our program

@Clyde88

Check your PMs. I have provided you with the emails of 2 current students. Please contact them regarding our experience. You can also email me directly at admin@medclerkships.com with any questions, I'd be happy to answer your queries and connect you with one of our physician consultants - this is a team of IMGs and current US residents in training. They can provide a free residency consultation call from the perspective of an IMG that went through the process and matched.

@jchang163

We have various program types. Our Premium Inpatient Only rotations are the only ones that absolutely require Step 1 or Step 2CK scores.

@puntsguy

No, interviews are never guaranteed. However, several students in the past have gained interviews via connections made through our placements.

All,
We also have many research opportunities available through our newly launched MedClerkships Research Network (MCRN). Please contact me directly for information on any of our ongoing projects for publication credit and the chance to gain an LOR based on your project contributions!

@ggggggggg

That really depends on which program you enroll in. We have various program types in different settings, each with different program requirements. Many of our students opt for our Standard Programs, which are essentially a mix of some hospital and mostly clinic experience. Send an email to admin@medclerkships.com for a breakdown of the different program types we offer.

@hraza2222

Yes, we are now accepting applications for all 2014 dates. We will start accepting applications for 2015 programs in Summer 2014.

I'd be happy to help with any questions you might have. What particular programs are you interested in?

@hraza2222

We normally recommend that students apply between 3-6 months in advance of their desired start date. We also offer the option for students to reserve a seat in any of our programs, up to a year in advance.

We have excellent Internal Medicine programs in various clinical settings in Atlanta, GA, Lafayette, LA, New York, NY, and Washington, DC. The same can be said for Surgery, with programs in Edison, NJ, Atlanta, GA, and Chicago, IL.

Send in your free application at www.medclerkships.com/apply to see if you qualify.

@hope2015

Sure, we have an excellent outpatient program in NYC available now. Additionally, we have combined inpatient & outpatient programs available in Chicago, IL, Washington DC, and Atlanta, GA. The last three programs are very selective, please fill out an application to see if you qualify.

While it is not required, we definitely recommend ECFMG certification. Yes, several of these programs provide a university hospital letterhead performance-based LOR

We do actually. We have a limited amount of specialties offered in DC and the nearby DC metro-area (MD and VA). I would suggest contacting our senior coordinator at admin@medclerkships.com to inquire about these programs, as they are somewhat limited to IM, Surgery, FM, and Neurology. The Neuro program is actually affiliated to a well respected and known DC university hospital, in case you were interested in that specialty.

Hi Saadhana

We normally recommend that students go more towards externships and research rather than observerships, as that typically looks better on your residency application. Since you have specific score questions, I can actually provide you with the contact information of one of our physicians to ask advice. Please contact our senior coordinator at admin@medclerkships.com

Hi CubanDoc,

Yes, we actually do provide some university-affiliated programs in NYC. However, Anesthesiology is not offered in the city. We have great programs for this in upstate NY and Chicago. For best assistance, I would recommend contacting a coordinator to see which options you qualify for and to get more personalized advice after medical education review.

Hi Mido,

We would first have to check your medical education history to ensure you are eligible for our top programs. While I can't say if either of those programs are in our network, we have excellent university hospital affiliated Psych programs available in both Atlanta, GA and New York, NY. For quickest assistance, please contact our head coordinator at admin@medclerkships.com

Hi Mukti - We actually do not provide any rotations in the state of Texas but we offer most specialties in the NY/NJ area. We would need more information from you, including which specialties you are interested in and your current medical education status, prior to being able to provide you with suitable program options. We are available at the office by phone (646) 543-6586 or email at admin@medclerkships.com where we can provide you with more customized assistance.

Hi there, I'm a IMG from Peru, I'm gonna get my medical diploma this April, son I won't be a medical student any more. So here goes my question: is it possible to do a rotation (elective or observership) in a us teaching hospital? And how easy is to get one? I'll appreciate any help you can give me.

Hi Cesc - you would qualify for our externship programs as an IMG. However, we would first have to review your transcripts and medical education background to provide you with a list of options that work for you. I can also connect you with a residency specialist to answer any specific program questions after application review. Feel free to contact us as either admin@medclerkships.com or team@medclerkships.com for better assistance.

Just wanted to update everyone on our new upcoming programs. We have an excellent combined IM & Cardiology program in Brooklyn, NY which guarantees the chance to earn two performance-based LORs from two board-certified physicians in a 4-week period.

We also have new IM programs affiliated with ACGME accredited teaching hospitals with IM residency programs in: Atlanta, GA, Scottsdale, AZ, and Washington DC.

All of these are now available for Spring/Summer 2015 and earlier. Contact us as admin@medclerkships.com or submit a free online application at www.medclerkships.com/apply to book any upcoming dates. Programs open to both current international medical students and those that have already graduated (IMGs).

Question

Hi

I am an IMG and I am looking for a 3-month inpatient experience in IM, Pediatrics and Radiology (one month each). I prefer Washington DC. Would your please tell me how much does it cost? Are malpractice insurance,CV editing, personal statement editing, interview training and airport pick-up service included?

How long does it take for IMGs to start their USCE from the time of application?

Thank you,

Default 12 weeks externship cost and vaccination

Hello! I'd like to know what prices should I expect for a 3-month externship in internal medicine. Planning to do 2 or 3 months of externship (depending on the cost) with your help in 2017.

I also concerned about vaccinations. I'm not sure whether I have a vaccination certificate, would it be appropriate if I presented recent antibody titers instead?

Looking forward for your reply.

We are delighted that you are interested in MedClerkships. Our 3 month discount packages start at $6500 depending on location. For full detailed rates, vaccination information (if you don't have access to your immunization records, we would indeed require you to submit antibody titer levels via a lab report), and scheduling assistance, please fill out the free application form at medclerkships.com/apply

Thank you for your answer. Could you please clarify one more thing: is it appropriate if lab test results are not in english? Should I support them with translation?

Yes, all documents must have official English notarized translations if needed.
