Default Moonlighting BEFORE residency as USCE?

Is it possible for IMGs who are green card holders to get a medical license before residency? By this, I mean a license that could allow you to do moonlighting. Can such experience boost your application for residency and also provide you with good LOR's?

You need a license to moonlight... If you could moonlight before residency no one would be doing residency.

Love some of these questions they give me hope that sheer common sense and google can get me into residency. God bless mate.

Thanks for the reply, although I hope you weren't trying to make fun of the post.

If Google answered me straightforwardly I wouldn't have asked. You know that IMG's are special cases. The 50 states also have varying laws on medical practice. Some states allow IMG's to take step 3 without residency. I'm just asking to make sure if I missed anything, like a special license or something. What's the use of this forums if everything should just be googled...

I know you need a license to moonlight. I just specified that to differentiate from the limited license for supervised medical practice that you might be required to get before residency or to include any other special license I may not have heard of.

And yes, some doctors may still want to specialize even if they could moonlight.

You can take step3 from Connecticut without being in residency. Very few other states.

Check FSMB in google
Federation of state medical boards
