Question Denied LOR for clinical electives

Hello friends ,

Recently I heard that it is quiet possible that one can be denied a LOR after successfully completing the elective rotations, even without any significant negative event.

How much is this unfortunate situation possible for an IMG ?? (Leaving apart a handful programmes which have strict policies of not providing any LOR's to IMG and hence also mention this fact beforehand).

Any one, any idea about this !!???

Yes, attendings are not obligated to give you a LOR (iy you were the candidate) , in any hospital. Its a matter of dedication and empathy

Still, What can be the chances of being denied ?? like is it 1 in 3 students or does it happen with every alternate one ???

doing an elective doesn't guarantee a lor or a strong lor. your performance should be good and you should shine in order to convince the attending to give you lor. usually the attendings prefer observing your performance minimum 5-7 days in order to write lor, so be ready to work on the weekends.
