Default Cleveland Clinic Florida observership

I got an observership in Cleveland Clinic Florida in the month of June. Does any one has any idea about them. If they give LORs or not. And where to live? And things like that. Any input is welcome!

Hey,
I too have got an observership in Cleveland Clinic Florida in July. I'm confused whether I should go.. Where you able to get any LORs? Or else it will be a waste of money..

Hi,

Could any of you guys who have finished your observership at Cleveland Clinic Florida share your experience please. I wanted to apply and wanted to know how you felt the observership was. Any input will be highly appreciated.

Also, if I can ask, how much in advance did you apply for it?
Thank you!

I did a 4 week observership in Cleveland Clinic Florida in July 2014 in Cardiology. People usually apply 4-6 months in advance. I applied 2 months before, and got in because of a cancellation.

They clearly state in their confirmation letter, "We do not provide recommendation letters. Being an observer at Cleveland Clinic does not allow for adequate assessment of clinical and surgical skill sets. As such staff physicians are unable to provide letters of recommendation." I couldn't get a LOR, though I worked with the dept.'s junior most doctor in afternoon clinic, and tried to get one from him.

They are IMG friendly to Spanish speakers, as most of the attendings and residents also speak Spanish. If I had known before that I won't be able to get LOR, I wouldn't have gone at all.

The decision is upto you; if you just want to fill up your CV, though you can't get a LOR out of it - go ahead. I didn't get any other observerships and was hoping to get a LOR somehow from this one, so I'm obviously disappointed..

Hey guys.

is it really difficult to get into CC observership?
If they don't require USMLE scores? What do they use to deciding whom to accept?
I'm from a Latin American Medical School. Is that a plus?

The $500 has to be paid during application. It depends on your CV and availability for your desired rotation. You will be asked to list 6 choices in order of preference. They do require USMLE scores prior to application.
