Listening "Splitting" the Internships between US and India!

I am in my 3rd year of MBBS and am planning to attempt the step 1 in march '12.

I was wondering if my college dean was not convinced I should "split" my internship (9 months in India + 3 months US), I could take a leave of absence from my college for 3 months DURING my internship period, go to the US, complete the 3 months there, come back to finish the remainder of the internship PLUS the 3 months worth that I missed while on "leave". (( in the end, I'd have done 12 months of internship in my college PLUS the additional 3 months in the US)).

how does this sound?

thanks again.

go for it. just a suggestion, try finish ur final year first, then step1. in the meantime, apply apply apply and apply.after step 1 - repeat the apply bit. and do go for it. in my opinion, even if it doesnt make a difference in ur application (which it does!), its a great experience in itself and can be a major eye opener...best of luck!
