Hi!!
I'm really confused as to what to do now that I'm going to graduate from Medical School ( July 2011) ... Currently studying for Step 1 and hopefully taking it soon but after that I wanted to kinda organize my time to see if I could do an observership or something related...
I already did my Internal Medicine rotation (4 months) in the US but don't know if that is enough. I really love Dermatology but know my chances are slim so I've been leaning towards Internal Medicine which I also love and enjoy.
Don't know if I'm asking too much but I would love to do any sort of observership/externship/clerkship (don't know which one I could actually do) in NY since I have family there.

Can ANYONE HELP ME PLEASEEEEEEEEE :sorry::toosad:

Since you are IMG & already did more than 3 months of electives, you are not eligibile to apply for NY Residency programs ( except if your school is NY list)
Check a topic of NY & 12 week rule here in forums.
Externship would be better than observership. You are not allowed to do clerkship(elective) when you are graduate.
Hit the search button, you will find many topics for that issues

Good Luck

I already checked the NY list and is all ok but now the question is should I do and externship or lean more towards doing a research maybe. I really wanna increase my chances of entering a Residency could you suggest any other things me and other recently IMGs do?

Thanks AGAIN :)
