Hello there hardworking,

You are in tough situation.. I think you will get more replies if you post this in the IMG matching subforum, not the USMG one.

As of your question, that double attempts on both step 1 and CS will be tough to redeem.. Score is the first filter programs applied to applications.

I suppose no one can predict your chances, but you can gauge how competitive the match now by browsing through the active threads of this year match per specialty. You can also pm some posters who have similar credentials and ask them how this season went for them.

Now if you decided you want to keep on trying, my suggestions will be:

1. Take time to ponder and evaluate what was your faulty studying method that caused you failing. Correct it. This is crucial. Otherwise you will keep on repeating the same mistake.

2. Do not take your CK unless you are ready and can get high score ( aim at least >230-240).

3. Make up your CV by getting research, hands on USCE.

4. Build contacts. Applicants with strong credentials might get away w/o contacts. Given your situation, you will need people who knows you well and can speak for you. How? volunteer, preferably in hospital that has residency.

5. When it comes the day to apply, consider to apply to more community programs than univ ones.

I have 2 friends with attempts. One with 1 cs attempt, he made up for it by getting research position. This person got prematch offer. The other one, similar profile to yours, 2 attempts, low score. First cycle, no IV. Next year s/he got research position, managed to get one IV through contact. Don't know yet about the result.

Also take into consideration your financial situation. It's a very expensive journey.. Keep an open mind of possible career location/trajectory.

Best of luck.
