No more two digit scores; Forever
by StepTaker 03-22-2013, 05:32 PM

The USMLE program has previously announced in 2011 that it will eliminate reporting the two digit score for USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 3.

They then announced that they will no longer report it in ERAS.

This week they have announced that it will never be reported to anybody, not the in the score report, not in ERAS, not in transcript. They just removed it altogether.

This is actually considered a good move because the two digit score was so confusing, people thought of it as a percentile (your score compared to others) and others thought of it as percentage (the number of questions you got right) while in fact the two digit score did not represent any of these, it was merely an extrapolation from the three digit score.

So just like what I said here, forget about the 2 digit score and now you have only one number to think about, the three digit score.
