who needs a 196 anyway?
189,196 or 199 all look like failure to me

Agreed! A score like that is not even an option for IMGs. I gave the CK this month, and a score like that would shatter my career plans.

it's not harder and harder my friends. because if you don't have big scores in both step, first attempt, you will not have any chances in matching residency. 196 is a low score, if you consider the number of img with 2!0 in step2 ck, who doesn't have any interviews. that's the minimum, great scores + usce . hang on my firends.

i disagree
i think passing is a big achievement
not everyone can get good scores!
Also do not forget
that USMLE exam was designed
to be a Pass/fail exam
scores are just used for residency
program directors to choose
who to iv

It doesn't matter what you score in your tests. I know people who had the 99's on both exams and didn't get one interview.

I knew IMGs who just passed both steps and got 5 interviews and didn't match

I also know others who got 190's in step 1 and 190-210 in step 2 and are in I.M. residencies.

Fact is, you can't put a score to a residency. If you rotate and they like you, you will get interviews. In the interview you are the same as everyone else and that is where you need to shine.

step scores are very important to match. we don't say that it is THE fact to match, we said, it's A fact to match, and it helps (a lot).

the fact that the only

exams
is PASS on the score report
