Does that mean a delay for the score report? I know there isn't any mention of that in the announcement, just wondering.

I was already worried abt CS result & this just hit me like another bullet seriously, I wonder one day they will raise the passing score to 260+ who knows? I guess it used to be like 189 or something just 2 years back. Oh God have mercy please!!:sorry:

I guess this simply means that those that scored 200 recently even though they were passed but they indirectly failed!

Lol. I just envisioned vampires sinking their canines into the computer screens and drawing blood from our tests.

In all seriousness though, a score less than 220 in CK is quite catastrophic for an IMG. So the change in passing score hardly matters really.

you are right I was just being overwhelmed by so many things. Im really not prepared for CK yet & waiting for CS result is really affecting my studies for too many days on the top of it another breaking news about score raising has just hit me pretty hard on my teenytiny brain. My step 1 score was good if not great but I was just wondering what is the general trend, people usually score higher in step 1 or step 2? I was just analyzing my odds where do I stand in this rat race!!!

Forget about everything and just study. Its the knowledge you gain that counts at the end of the day, not the scores you get on these tests. Do that and your scores will automatically improve without you stressing about them.
Waiting for CS results is a bitch though. I sympathize there.
PS - Your brain isn't all that 'teenytiny'. Give yourself some credit. You're the product of thousands of years of evolution!

what the heck!

I dont understand why you guys complaining about it, c´mon!! who gets 203?!!! you know you guys wont, the guys who get that are the one who dont commit to this thing, the ones that just want to pass no matter what sccore they get, and sadly a lot of them are so confident in just passing the exam because they have contacts to get ém in!!! well now at least this guys have to study a little bit harder

I think this is a good idea by USMLE, and guys dont sweat it.. If there is anything im proud of is to belong to this forum! The majority of people here are from another world! Intelligent, smart, hard-working individuals.

Just look at the UW, USMLE 2 Ck scores thread, the average is way above the mean! We even have stars that break the 270 mark!
Dumb, lazy people should worry about this... Not you guys! So smile and get back to studying

Well I guess not everybody is as smart as some people here are claiming to be ..... You know the average mean for step 2. A lot of people fall under that bar & lot are way above it. This test itself is not a test of pure knowledge u have to be a good test taker as well which unfortunately even some very smart & knowledgeable people are not.Something can go wrong on the test day one can become anxious & drop their scores. So I am not really talking about you confident 280+ers I was referring to the general pubic who sometimes dont want to speak up openly on these forums cause of the fear of being considered under average. Dont discriminate those people, they might be smarter than you are but probably not as good test takers like you it will affect alot of those students as well who had a great score in step 1 & wanted to quickly finish step 2 to apply this year, so yes they do have the right to whine about it. Considering the passing score in the past they are raising the standards every year. Someone who passed 10 years ago with a score of 170 & is a practicing physician is no way better than someone who gets 202 now & fails the test. Nevertheless I do know whining will not help & we do have to work harder to beat the mean score. Good luck everyone.

The bottom line is.... how many IMG´s matched in 2003 (10yrs ago) with scores of 170????, or is able to match now with a score under 200?, even 10 years ago if somebody matched with 170 it is very likely these ppl had CONTACTS. No one saying steps is a reflection of our IQ but the reflection of how well you prepare, you are preparing to take a test so even if it measures your skills as a test takeR as you say, you gotta prepare to be a good test taker, nowdays there are tons of resources to be a good one. And you have to work hard no t only in one step but in all steps not only because you ace one exam expect to prepare ¨2 weeks¨ and ace the next one if you rush it thats your fault if you fail for it... period.
PEACE

Are you kidding me?? my eldest cousin came to US in early 90's(too long ago but still ) He just took just 1 exam from his country It was called Something else not even usmle & He got into residency in US, no damn contacts u are talking about. He is a very senior cardiologist now. I'm not saying he wasn't smart but comparing situation of students now with those in the past is like comparing apples & oranges. No doubt at all we are just born in a wrong era where we have to compete with more & more competitive doctors every year if you compare it with the past. So please stop bragging (sorry but its obvious u are showing off) we know u got great score in step 2 but there are lot of other people here too & this news pissed them off.

Well thats more than 20 years ago pal, We are talking about the USMLE era in here and how damn competitive is now to get in to residency, so dont compare ¨apples and oranges¨. anyway thinking that in the past ppl used to get in to residency was easier and being pissed because now is not that way.....man thats not the way to think about it, unless you were just preparing yourself to pass with a borderline score. Its unfortunate, yes it is, but somehow you have to separate yourself from the mass and you have the tools to do it so stop being a complainer, and dude, I dont see where the heck Im showing off I havent even share my score..ever, so c´mon! stop being this childish Im not being personal with nobody so I expect the same from the rest.
PEACE
