Wink Autosplenectomy Vs Splenic Sequestration

Autosplenectomy:

repeated injuries by sickles cells.
enlarged spleen.
triangular infarctions of the spleen
results is small shrunken fibrosed spleen in adulthood.


Splenic squesteration:

sudden enlargement of the spleen
hypovolemic shock
reticulocytosis
may occur with HbC and B thalasemia.
