Bacteria E. coli Virulence factors

Virulence factors of E coli:

1- Heat labile toxin: released by ETEC also called cholera like toxin
2- Heat stable toxin: ETEC and EAEC
These 2 are ADP ribsylating A-B toxins. Heat labile stimulates adenylate cyclase, heat stable stimulates guanylate cyclase "Labile like Air, stable like Ground"
3- Shiga like toxin: EHEC (0157:H7) causes HUS. Inactivates 60s ribosome.
4- K-1 capsule, helps in meningitis.
5- P-pilus: important in UTI. If it's absent the bacteria won't colonize.
