Post Microbiology short review

Strep pyogenesStrep Pharyngitis- Classical strep throat (4 criteria fever, NO cough, lymphoadenopathy, exdate on pharyngs
if you see this 4 criteria in Adult Pt always think Strep pyogenes
in kids some virus can do the same ( adenovirus,orthomyxo, inflenza, EBV, HBV, measles) but in that case fever, cough, lymphoadenopathy and no exudate
Scarlet fever- erythematous sandpaper rush, start neck and trunk spearing face ( DDx with Kawasaki disease)
Rheumatic Fever: caused by Type II hypersensitivity
JONES Criteria (i hope everybody know it but important point to remember is Myocarditis is the MCC early death of RF patient and MC manifestation of myocarditis it Mitral regurgitation (RF-MR)
Acute Glomerulonephritis: Type III hypersensitivity just remeber Sore thoroat- face bloat and Pie Coke
S. Viridans previously damaged heart valve ->Endocarditis ( think some other disease like this Prosthetic valve --> endocarditis (S. epidermidis), previously normal valve + IV drug user--> endocarditis (S, aureus), Endocarditis + after dental work --> S. mutans, endocarditis + colon cancer --> Bovis )
Strep Pneumo: important to know its gram positive diplococcus MCC of Pneumonia in Adult , also cause meningitis in adult and Otits media in children.

Please ADD and Correct if i m wrong
