I've never had a strong understanding of PCOS.

How can there possibly be massively increased levels of LH in a woman with PCOS if the problem is that she's anovulatory? Don't high levels of LH (luteal surge) cause ovulation? I don't think I understand at all the pathophysiology behind this condition (or why it's treatable with birth control pills). Can anyone help clarify this?

Correction: OCP's prevent estrogen surge and indirectly inhibit the LH surge ---> ovulation does not occur.

PCOS -> Hyperandrogenism due to deranged sterdoid synsthesis. There is increased LH leading to anovulation. And it presents with increased LH, decreased FSH and increased Testosterone.
