Question Is The Free 150 absolutely crucial!

Is the Free 150 from the USMLE crucial? For some reason my computer won't DL the or open the software the right way. Every time I try it says error, and I don't want to waste anymore time on it.

My test is this Thursday, I've done NBME 1, 7, and 12, and UWSA 1 and feel comfortable with my progress and scores as of right now. Should I continue to waste time on trying to figure out how to do these 150? or just go back to reading FA (which I'm on my 4th read and it's so blaaah, cuz I'm so sick of studying lol, kinda glad i'm getting it over with this week, cause I don't know how much longer I could hold out.)

What do you guys think?

Arrow Not crucial

You are not alone in this, many members have expressed frustration before with it and could not install it on their computers as you can see in these two threads:
USMLE Practice Test (Free 150) (USMLE CD) is not working ?
Windows cannot extract the free 150 software!

The main benefit of doing the Free-150 is to get acquainted with the FRED V2 interface and to see the orientation 15 minutes tutorial. Other than that, there's isn't really much benefit as the questions are always reported as easier than the real exam and the NBME is a much better predictor and closer to the exam.

However, if you insist and you just don't feel comfortable without doing it then there's always the option of going for the USMLE Prometric Practice Test as the questions in that practice test are exactly the same as Free-150

thanks StepTaker! I'll skip the free 150 and just continue on with my read of FA. I don't know how ppl say they've read FA like 7x!

I heard of at least one person that had a couple questions on their actual exam that came straight from the free 150 so I wouldn't underestimate it.
