Drug Lansoprazole-ketoconazole interaction.

The plasma levels of Ketoconazole are lower than normal following its oral absorption in patients treated with Lansoprazole. What is the reason for this?

A) The induction of enzymes that metabolize ketoconazole
B) Ketoconazole requires an acid environment for its oral absorption
C) Lansoprazole binds acidic drugs in the GI tract
D) Increased GI transit time because of the prokinetic effects of Lansoprazole
E) Competition for transport mechanisms in the GI tract

Default Answer is B

I Like this one,

The absortion of certain drugs are altered by Lansoprazole due reduce stomach acid which lead to Decrease absortion and concentration on Ketoconazole but also Increase Absortion and concentration of Digoxin...

I remember the question on UW or Kaplan with digoxin... Nice one bebix.

Answer is B

I may add : Tetracyclines or Fluorquinolones should NOT be taken with anti-acid also... =)
