Arrow July 6th...day of judgement

So I've set my date, and bright and early July 6th I'll be off to take my test. Honestly, I won't say I feel 100% ready, but I don't know how much I'll gain by studying more so I'm just going to bite the bullet.
My plan for the next 2 weeks is basically to do 4 blocks of UW each day with review, and try to squeeze in FA review and flashcards at the end of each day. I am also going to do 2 or 3 more NBMEs, so I will post my progress as I go along.
Beginning- NBME 6- 191
2 weeks ago- NBME 5: 210
This week- UWSA: 230

Wish me luck!

Default Day 13

Countdown continues...
Today I did 3 blocks of UW (random, timed, unused), averaged 54% on all three. Not happy with that, but the first block totally burned me, scored 41%, 56% and 65%. It seems to be a trend with me, even on the UWSA and NBME, that I tend to bomb the first block. My test is at 9 am, so I am thinking maybe I'll try a 1/2 block of used questions on test day to jump start my brain. I'm going to try that out on my next NBME see if it helps.

I was looking through the Tau's method for how to approach the last 2 weeks, and he suggested 4 blocks of UW per day, along with complete review and read FA How's that even possible, there's only so many hours in a day! Anyway, still reviewing the 3 blocks I did today, so will hopefully get through it all today, NBME tomorrow, and review FA over the weekend.

For those who don't know Tau's method, I'll attach it here.

I will need the day to have like 50 hours to do 4 blocks, review each of them and also study from FA.
I have enough with one block a day and reviewing FA for the rest of the day.

I like to study nice and calm. Can't rush myself because I freak out

Curiously this start happening when I start studying for USMLE.

I'm basically reviewing FA and I'm thinking of doing an NBME just to practice doing questions. The last couple of days I'm going to do the forgettables. How about you? Oh, and a lot of praying...:sorry: LOL

Ughh, just finished NBME 11, scored 520/ 226. It's a bit disheartening that 81% correct was only 226! Got reamed on behavioral science, and my repro and GI could use some work. Not really sure what to do these last few days, read FA or do more UW questions. I haven't gone through a second reading of FA and am only still done with 32% of UW (takes me a long time to review after doing questions). Wondering if I am selling myself short by taking it July 6th since I have not covered all the material. Need some advice on what you guys think since I have 8 days to go!

So...I postponed my test till July 16th. The past few days I just hit a point where I couldn't study or even think through questions, like everything was just a blur. Anyway, I took a few days off and didn't study to try to clear my head, went to the beach yesterday and just laid out in the sun for awhile. I haven't been sleeping well the past few days either, so I sort of knew I wouldn't be in any shape to take my test tomorrow. Anyway, I am back to studying today, my goal is to try to get to bed at a reasonable time so I am well rested and get my mind back in test mode. Hopefully today goes well.

Hey, I saw that your initial NBME 6 score was 191, how many weeks did it take for you to improve to 226? (form 12)

You know, i was looking over the taus method a few weeks ago and it is a good method... pretty tight but doable... i do around 3 UW per day easily and still can manage to study around 4 hours more in a day.. so Dont be afraid... maybe it can work... just focus... many ppl says that it will work if we divide FA in 5-6 days... Taus method do it for 14 days... Whatever works for you.. =)

Just go easy and i dont recommend do any "used" question before the day of the examn... like some ppl says "You dont go for a run the day before the marathon, right? you just rest your brain and sleep well.. =) Most of my bad score are because i dont rest that well or feel a lot of pressure on me...

=)

Took about 8 weeks or so. After the first time I realized my biochem and immunology was really weak, so I did alot of work on those then took another one, and scored 210. I was also doing questions from Qbank during that time. I then started UW and took NMBE 11, and scored 226. I've also been doing annotating FA the whole time.

Default Uwsa 2: 252!!!

I am so happy I can't even tell you, that was a much needed confidence boost! Exactly 1 week from today I face the beast, so today I decided to do a full practice run through. My test is at 8am and the center is 30 min away, so I wanted to see how my brain functions if I have to be up that early. So up at 6:30, shower, eat cereal, went through some medscape slides on infectious diseases, drove to the test center, check out the facilities etc. Glad I did that since the directions in the email were wrong so I got off on the wrong exit (that would suck on test day ), but now I know where to go.

So for the practice test I did 7 blocks- 1 block from Qbank, 2 from UW, and the 4 in the UWSA. Those went fine, but in the end I was just unbelievably tired. In the morning I took a break after every block, so after lunch I ran out of breaktime and ended up doing 2 blocks back to back. I think I need to work on doing two blocks with just a stretch break, so I don't run out of break time in the afternoon. Will practice that this week.

Plan for the week: more FA and UW. Too tired to think anymore for the day, so heading to a friend's housewarming party for a little while, then start again bright and early tomorrow

Default Nbme 12: 233

A full 19 points lower than my UWSA, but I'm not going to let it bother me too much. I think it was a very difficult test, required a lot of multi-step thinking and had a lot of drugs and bugs and those ridiculous physiology questions with multiple things increasing or decreasing and answer choices from A-H (hate those!). Also, that was 85% correct if anyone's interested in knowing how the percentages correlate.
On another note, today I decided to use earplugs just in case the test center has lots of people typing. So here I am at the library, wouldn't you know it I think today was cleaning day because all morning the janitor was vacuuming. Seriously. Also, it's a huge library with lots of computers, so I choose a far corner so I can be pretty isolated. Within 10 minutes of starting, this guy came and sat right next to me and proceeded to type and flip though his multiple sheets of paper. In another 10 minutes, this girl came and sat on the other side of me and decided she need to scan a bunch of stuff. I am like really? All these computers, scanners etc in the library and you both decide to sit right beside me??? The wonderful earplugs blocked out most of the sound although they made my head feel like exploding, like when you're in an airplane too long.
Anyway, off to go review killer nbme...

Default Free 150 questions: 86% (predicted 251)

I took the free 150 yesterday and reviewed them with the plan to review some more stuff today. However, I find I am too wired to do much reading, every page I turn i feel like there's so much I don't know and there's no way I'll know it before Saturday So I'm trying not to freak myself out too much and trust that my prep so far is enough, and posting like a maniac on usmle-forums to distract myself without feeling too guilty

Best of Luck!! May you get a great score!!!
