Question Relationships between insulin and liver/muscle

The graphs below illustrate the normal relationships between plasma insulin concentration and glucose production in the liver and between plasma insulin concentration and glucose uptake in muscle.

Default Decisions

Well, i guess 1) is pretty much straightforward, i guess with insulin resistance C would be a better guess.
As with Acromegaly, i would go with D, not so sure with this on though

Default Ans.

Both diseases are affected with insulin resistance. So my choice for both would be c) B and C.
In type 2 diabetes there is a tissue resistance to insulin due to flaw receptors.
In acromegaly excess growth hormone antagonizes insulin action.

for both,,the ans is C .. both show insulin resistance
in type 2 DM there is defective insulin response in body so there is going to b increased glucose production in liver n decreased uptake in muscle
in acromegaly there is production of IGF which binds to insulin receptors resistance to insulin is developed resulting in decreased uptake in tissue n icreased gluconeogenesis

The correct answers are
1) C
2) C


Type 2 DM is characterized by diminished sensitivity of target tissues to the metabolic effect of insulin (insulin resistance). As a result, hepatic uptake of glucose is impaired, and glucose release is enhanced. For the same reasons, in muscle, the uptake of glucose is also impaired.

In acromegaly, high plasma levels of growth hormone cause insulin resistance. Consequently, there is increased glucose production by the liver and impaired glucose uptake by peripheral tissues.
